Our parents fostering has been able to teach our children, that children don't always get to stay with their mummy's & daddy's. Along as you are very loved by the people you are with and we are able to share our love with children who may not have had that. Fostering is such a positive, inspiring thing to do. It helps so many children who are a little less fortunate & to see them grow is incredible. We've gained more knowledge about parenting from it along the way too.

From at first I was a little speculative with regards to what impact it would have on me and my own family’s life, not only now have I gained a little brother and niece which we truly adore, it has shown us how that anyone can make parents no matter what your background is.
All in all, I take my hat off to my parent’s, my brother and his partner for taking this challenge in the first place and showing how everyone deserves that special start to life whatever the circumstance.

Being part of a fostering family is very rewarding in many ways. You have the opportunity to really make a difference to the difficult lives of some fantastic young people. The experience has given me a better understanding of the challenging lives of some children and the ways in which they need to be supported. This insight has been particularly beneficial to me as I begin my career as a secondary school teacher.

I have been fostering for 45 years and my husband has been fostering about 25 years. These years have been very rewarding in lots of ways when I was younger helping the children develop and grow. Now we look after teenagers, helping them to adapt to young adults can be very challenging, but at the same time very rewarding. There is support from social workers and other carers.

We love living with Kerry because she cooks the best meals, especially her curry and roasts. She is someone to cuddle in the thunder and lightning and makes us feel safe. She's great fun and we go on lots of great days out.

We have been fostering for seven year's now during which time, our house has been home to five children. I find it incredible that what was our spare bedroom is now used to provide a safe bed for the night to children when they need it the most.
It's satisfying to know that we've helped to make a positive difference to their lives and we love to see their individual personalities bloom as they begin to feel safe and come out of their shell.
